MANAGING PROBLEMS IN A STATE TEACHER-TRAINING INSTITUTE

  Teachers working at teacher’s training institutions are overburdened by the lack of professional and economical official support. One of the possibilities of overcoming these shortcomings is teamwork involving not only teachers but also students and assistants. Participants will share ideas and proposals to overcome the problem.   Nasca de Molineri, Alicia is a Graduate from Universidad Nacional de Tucumán in 1969. She teaches English at Escuela y Liceo Vocacional Sarmiento (UNT) and English Language I and II at IES «Lola Mora». Former Head of Department at IES «Lola Mora». At present she is secretary of the local English Teachers’ Association.
Caramuti, Stella María is a Graduate from INSP in 1976 – Rosario - Santa Fe. She teaches English at Escuela Normal Superior «J. B. Alberdi». She is currently teaching Language III and IV and two workshops at IES «Lola Mora» . She has been the Head of the English Department for nearly ten years. She is currently working on the thesis for the Licenciatura en Literatura at the UNT.
 
USING EMPATHY INSTEAD OF JUDGEMENTS

Moralistic judgements deprive us from the possibility of establishing a genuine connection with coworkers and other members of staff. Thoughts trap us in a world of rightness and wrongness that classify people according to our own values.
In this workshop, participants will have a chance to explore the «Four D´s of Disconnection» : diagnosis, denial of responsibility, demand and «deserve»- oriented language and transform these categories of speech into more effective forms of communication.
  Ms Fabiana Parano is a graduate English teacher and self-esteem pratitioner. Former coordinator at Septiembre School where she carried out an institutional project on Nonviolent Communication with teachers and students.
At present she is the English Headmistress of Amapola School and assistant coach to Teaching Practice for Methodology II at Joaquín V Gonzalez Teachers´ Training College.
 
COMMUNICATING NONVIOLENTLY WITH SELF AND OTHERS

  Based on Marshall Rosenberg’s work on nonviolent communication, this workshop will contribute with your developing the ability to deal with your own and others’ anger effectively and to enhance a quality of honesty, understanding and respect in your relationships.   Julián Lichtmann -Lic en Sociología (UBA), MEd (Univ. Bristol) and Counselor (Univ. Strathclyde)- gives training on nonviolent communication (NVC) to individuals, families, schools and other organizations. He has recently attended an intensive training on NVC with Marshall Rosenberg and is currently working on the process of becoming an NVC certified trainer.
 
NEW TECHNOLOGICAL RESOURCES FOR LANGUAGE TEACHERS

  The integration of multimedia resources in effective classroom teaching is a real challenge that English coordinators must face when designing and implementing meaningful learning environments.
Different interactive and multimedia resources are presented as useful tools for EFL teachers in this workshop.
  Juan Molina Farfán was awarded a BA in Education with a Mayor in English, and a MA in Linguistics at Universidad de Concepción, Chile in 1991 and 1998 respectively. Since 1993 he has worked as a EFL Teacher in Language, Education, Computer Assisted Language Learning and Teaching at Universidad San Sebastián, Concepción, Chile; as well as Head of School of English Studies. He has also been working as a Teacher Trainer in implementing the Chilean Educational Reform since 2001.
Jorge Lillo Durán was awarded a BA in education with a major in English in 1988, a Diploma in Educational Computing in 1994 and a MA in Linguistics in 2000 at Universidad de Concepción. Since 2001 he has been working as an EFL teacher in Reading and Writing at Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción, Concepción, Chile; as well as a Language Coordinator, EFL Teacher in Reading, Writing and Phonetics, and Teacher Trainer in implementing the Chilean Educational Reform at Universidad San Sebastián, Concepción, Chile.

She has wide experience of teaching Business English courses at many companies and at Universidad Siglo XXI. At present she is Coordinator of Business English courses in English Forum, a position she previously held at Cultura Británica. She has also been Oral Examinar for the University of Cambridge since 1998.
